The Pause, Shiraz, Iran
Architect, Amir Hossein created the Pause in response to the challenging architectural installation competition held near one of the most important historic gardens in Shiraz, Afif Abad Gardens.
The ultimate sustainable building material, clay brick has proven its performance for thousands of years. Unlike other materials that fade in and out of fashion, clay brick provides the longevity, durability and adaptability that sets it apart. These impressive qualities are why clay brick has a typical lifespan of over 150 years. But a clay brick can often last much longer. And at the end of a building’s life, clay bricks have a second life. They can be refurbished, recycled and reused, offering end-of-life circularity.
Created using natural, locally sourced materials, clay brick’s unbeatable thermal mass regulates indoor temperatures, while its clay composition emits no harmful substances that degrade air quality. When you need a structure to endure, clay brick provides the lowest carbon, highest recycling potential, and greatest health impacts.
Now is the time to think longer/resilience.
Clay brick can help shape our future.
